Software Description
The software utilized in this tutorial is Autodesk Inventor Pro 2008. The student should be familiar with sketching, dimensioning, applying constraints and creating work planes. |
GPS/QCC Standards
Technology Integration – Basic Skills #2: Demonstrates the ability to transfer technology skills into a significantly new situation.
ACT-IED-11: Students will use orthographic projection to create and dimension multi-view drawings.

Process Description
| Step 1. |
Create paper sketches of each profile needed. The object's shape and size will determine the number of profile sketches needed. |
| Step 2. |
Start a new project in Autodesk Inventor. Draw the first profile on an axis work plane and fully dimension and constrain the sketch. |
| Step 3. |
Create parallel work planes for each profile. Draw, dimension and constrain successive sketches on the work planes. |
| Step 4. |
Start the loft command and select each sketch in order. Complete the Loft command. |
|
Guiding Questions
1. How many profiles will the loft need?
2. Are the profiles parallel to each other?
3. Must the profiles be aligned? |
